Two assassination attempts, one sucessful. The three Americans and their two smuggler friends are caught in events that could lead to war...a war provoked by powers beyond their comprehension.

Storm Clouds Over Sexton Sexton Chronicles Book 3 edition by David J Steele Literature Fiction eBooks

When I was a child growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, I spent a lot of time checking out books from the Oglesby, Illinois public library and escaping with some of my favorite authors. I was a voracious reader, reading everything from biographies and histories to science fiction and adventure. One day it was Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles; the next day it was Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn or Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I loved a good story and the folks who told it I loved how a book grabbed me from the opening sentence and wouldn't let me go until the very last word.

And that's how I feel when I've read one of David Steele's books, especially his Sexton Chronicles series. Here is a fellow who knows his to tell a good story.

In Storm Clouds Over Sexton there is war, assassination, wizardry, and plenty of non-stop action as the countries of Sexton and Crescens face off against each other. All the familiar characters are back again for another thrilling, riveting adventure: Tom, Andy, John, Bencala, and Sistelli. It's a lot darker and more psychological than the first two books, and if you were fortunate to have already read them, what you are really seeing here is Steele coming into his own as an author. He shows more maturity with the subject matter, and as such, there is more development in his characterizations, especially Sistelli.

Where Steele excels the most is his flair for writing action and suspense which keeps the reader riveted and on the edge of their seats. Reading Steele might remind you of Clive Cussler who also excels at keeping the reader riveted page after page.

In the midst of all this action are our charming and witty three American lads, Tom, Andy, and John who find themselves caught between two opposing forces. Their survival, like their adventures in the first two books, is up to their cunning and quick-thinking.

Do yourself a favor and check out one of his Sexton Chronicles; better yet, check them all out. I promise you, if you love a good story, you won't be disappointed with any of the books in this series. And just in case you're interested, I bet you David got his start reading Bradbury, Twain and Verne, too.

Storm Clouds Over Sexton Sexton Chronicles Book 3 edition by David J Steele Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I have now had the opportunity to read 4 of Dave's books and they just keep getting better. I do not know what his training has been, but the characters, the atmosphere and the story lines blend so well, you just feel you are there and if you are like me when you are done you will say "give me more sexton". Keep it up Dave your fans await.
This is the 3rd in the series ... I like each book in the series better than the last. The only reason this got a 4 instead of a 5 is because I want to be able to rate the next one higher than this one!

If you like tongue in cheek humor, adventure, a little magic, the drama of good vs evil, and unexpected plot twists give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
